I took the Radio Amateurs Exam (RAE) in Dorchester in December 1981 aged 16. It wasn't until May 1982 that I finally received my class B license and the callsign G6HRV. With considerable help from George Gunnel G3AVV (G4DLE) I passed the 12wpm morse test at Portishead Radio Station (GKA) receiving my present callsign (G4RQI) in December 1982.
I operate mainly CW and Digital modes from HF up to 10Ghz. I like to build radio related projects and I occasionally write programs for PIC Microcontrollers.
I am a member of the RSGB & Pontefract & District Radio Society (PDARS).
